The “Art in the Streets x Meeting of Styles (Hong Kong),” co-hosted by the Vivere Sky Group Social Enterprise and Lawsgroup with the full support of the Greater Bay Area Homeland Youth Community Foundation and the Sham Shui Po District Office, was officially launched in June 2025. It will gather over 70 artists from around the world as part of Meeting of Styles, along with five local tertiary institutions, eight local artists, and more than ten supportive community organizations. The event aims to engage with local and ethnic minority youth and seniors in Sham Shui Po, creating art together. Through diverse artistic expressions, it will bring a fresh artistic atmosphere to the streets of Sham Shui Po, reshaping public spaces into vibrant, creative areas that highlight local characteristics and promote cultural integration and community cohesion.
This initiative aims to collaboratively build a vibrant, caring community that embraces cultural diversity, enhancing residents’ sense of belonging and well-being while promoting harmonious community development. The project not only showcases Hong Kong’s unique cultural charm but also establishes a bridge for cultural integration, allowing art to serve as a crucial medium for uniting community strength.
Mr. Kenneth Fok Kai-kong BBS JP, founder of Vivere Sky Group Social Enterprise, places great emphasis on community participation and the development of local artists. He actively arranges for artists to immerse themselves in the Sham Shui Po community, collaborating with ethnic minority youth, seniors, grassroots families, and students to integrate art into the daily lives of citizens from conception to practice. Workshops will also be held, enabling residents to participate hands-on in the creation of art installations, learning diverse artistic techniques and fostering community connections and interactions. Professor Lam Miu-ling, Associate Dean of the School of Creative Media at City University of Hong Kong, is going to lead students from Cheung Sha Wan Catholic Secondary School in beautifying public recreational spaces in Sham Shui Po, while the school’s outer wall will showcase the artwork of free weaving projects of seniors led by artist Reggae YC Siu.
Local artworks will soon be unveiled in eight representative public spaces in Sham Shui Po, including Fuk Wah Street and Fuk Wing Street near the Golden Computer Arcade, the public recreational space on Guilin Street, the outer wall of Cheung Sha Wan Catholic Secondary School , as well as Wing Hong Street, Tung Chau Street, Tai Nam Street, Po On Road, and Tonkin Street. Works by overseas artists will be displayed on the exterior walls of D2 Place ONE and D2 Place TWO. Each piece will blend community characteristics with the individual styles of the artists, with completion expected in late November 2025, followed by a year of regular maintenance to ensure the artistic outcomes continue to benefit the community.
